This book makes not only for good reading, but it also teaches the individual reading it. For me . . . it touched home--each page offered something meaningful to me. I have had the chance to read several chapters of your book and it is quite well written. I really enjoy the personal touches--your insights into the poetry that you were writing. Clearly, you are a vessel through which the work and words arrive--it is a gift. I really enjoyed the poem "along the back road" (not sure of title right now) and believe it or not, I think of that little cabin nestled there as "me." What a discovery that was, what insightful writing, what universal truths it speaks. It is so refreshing to hear your words about how God has given us a perfect natural surrounding to remind us of His grace. From time to time, I find reading it to be a real pleasure because of the work and the insight you put into it. It is like it is talking to me personally--Michael L., Playwright
This book has reconnected me with the innocence of youth. While reading this book, I reflected back to the days when my children were ages 3-7 and how they were amazed by the wonder, beauty, and mystery of God's creation. They picked weeds that had blossomed and were proud to give them to me as if they were giving me the greatest gift in the world. They would spend countless moments holding, touching and taking care of a rolley polley bug. Vera, your book has helped me recapture those now precious memories because now I can plainly see that by admiring creation my eyes can audibly convey to my heart God's love for me. I am convinced, more than ever, that God appointed the splendor of His Creation to reveal His love for all of humankind. It used to be when I would wake up on Saturday mornings, the birds singing would get on my nerves! But now--I wake up and listen to them and they sound beautiful! (After reading your book) You even got me looking at the ant on a sidewalk! Psalms 104-13 says, The earth is satisfied with the fruit of his works. Thanks to this book, I can say my soul is more satisfied. My heart now sings praise to God when I take the time to notice God's Glory in His Creation. Vera, thanks for sharing your journey with me--Neda J.
It is a lovely book, and very nicely written. Your observances and commentary is right on . . . .--Sheila K.
Vera, I love your book! Have read about half of it and showed it to the ladies at my Wednesday night Bible study. You have a wonderful style, I feel like I am right there walking with you--Betty O., Author To my sister, Vera. I thank God for His anointing words of His Spirit to give you the wisdom, knowledge and understanding of His creation for His glory. It has brought many beautiful memories alive in my heart. So just continue to work in the Spirit of the Holy Spirit. After reading further, I truly realized how inspiring, how encouraging--so uplifting your words from the Holy Spirit are to my life and for others. Thank you, Lord. So much insight of God--His beauty and our lives. So continue on. I am counting my blessings and cherishing your book. I love you--Your sister, Dorothy N. I had prepared my Sunday's message, but after reading your book, it changed my message--Pastor F. Wise You want to get people to understand how important it is to get acquainted with God in nature--that's the bottom line, isn't it? And, to realize how awesome He is. Your book is provoking me to go back to what I used to do. It reminds me about fishing. I've allowed myself to get caught up. I even got a boat out there in my driveway. Your book was a reminder that I need some of that--that's therapy! Go and spend some time admiring the God of creation! We have to force ourselves to take the time to get alone with God and spend some quiet time, because there is healing in nature. Nature is what gives you peace, peace in your soul. That's how people get their peace. Your book makes you think about that's what you do to get peace--Pastor E. Francois You won't be the same after reading this book! My thinking has been transformed; I appreciate the grandeur of God through nature like never before. This book is awesome! Vera Smith shares with us that creation really does declare God's glory, and how we can have intimate fellowship with Him through creation. I would give it five stars--Chris M.
